Sparrow Law Firm is owned and managed by Katie Sparrow. Katie was born and raised in Mississippi County. She left the area in 2015 to pursue her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and her minor in Medieval Renaissance Studies at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
Following undergrad, she attended and graduated from the University of Arkansas School of Law. While in law school, she worked as a law clerk at a general practice firm. After that, she externed at the Washington County Department of Human Services, Office of Chief Counsel and the Washington County Prosecutor's Office. She was also a Rule XV student in the school's Criminal Defense Clinic and assisted in a Federal Civil Rights jury trial, where the team obtained a favorable ruling for the client. In her last year of law school, Katie helped create the U of A Delta Initiative, and through that, she hosted a record sealing clinic in Osceola alongside other community leaders.
Katie had to slow down after having her first child only a month after passing the bar exam in September 2022. She returned to the legal field in February 2023, where she worked primarily in family law, handling divorces, child custody, order of protection hearings, and guardianships. She obtained her domestic relations attorney ad litem certification in September of 2023. Katie currently serves as a Deputy Public Defender but is excited to give back to Northeast Arkansas by providing exceptional legal representation through private practice as well.
Katie strives to provide an environment where adults and children feel comfortable discussing personal matters in the initial consultation as well as future meetings. Katie often represents children as an attorney ad litem in domestic relations cases, and she creates a trusting relationship with those children by regularly meeting with them.
Katie successfully planned and coordinated a record sealing clinic where law students, local attorneys, and judges sealed over one hundred criminal convictions in Osceola, Arkansas. She also created the framework for future law students to participate in Constitution Day presentations at high schools in Eastern Arkansas to encourage high school students to consider law school.
While in law school, Katie participated in the Arkansas Criminal Defense Pro Bono clinic, where she represented someone facing a Y Felony Battery charge. She also presented the closing argument and examined a witness in a federal jury trial while representing the plaintiff in a § 1983 (excessive force) case. The jury gave a favorable verdict to the plaintiff.
